Chapter 92 Something Only We Have
"Well, it is a 1 versus 2 after all, what can I do?" Chris smirked back.
"Haha," Cathy chuckled at his words and hummed, "Should I try to infuse my mana in the water for it to deal more damage?"
"No. Taylor is a Grade-B awakened, he would easily notice the mana." Chris shook his head, he didn\'t want Taylor to know that they were using mana in the game.
Mainly because Chris knew that Taylor was much more experienced than him at using mana, if he found out Chris was using mana, he wouldn\'t hold himself back from using it either.
"He is B-Grade? How do you know that…?" Cathy asked in confusion, according to her, Chris was also a C-Grade awakened rather than a B-Grade awakened. So unless a B-Grade releases their suppressed aura, it was niegh impossible to determine one.
"I met him at Mariana Beach once. He had his aura released at that time." Chris blurred out the first thing that came in his mind. And well, he wasn\'t technically wrong either.
"Ohh." Cathy nodded and focused back on aiming her water gun rather than chatting as if they weren\'t in a highly competitive match with hundreds of thousands of dollars on line.
…
"As expected, Taylor is tanking the attacks while the white is going to hide behind Taylor and support him." Chris narrowed his brows in annoyance.
"Cath, target the center only." Chris stepped on the accelerator and requested hastily.
"Yes, I know." Cathy shot the stream of water that despite the long distance between them and a beautiful rainbow curve forming due to gravity, ended up hitting very close to the center on the red target.
The scarily accurate shot had surprised Taylor who quickly turned his car out of the way of the stream.
"Oh nice shot, Cath." Chris praised with a surprised expression as well.
"It was nothing, just boring math and physics shit from school coming to use finally." Cathy chuckled.
"Nerd."
"And you are a dumbass. Don\'t forget I was the one who helped you finish assignments."
"I was the one who helped you take leaves from school."
"And why did I need to take the leaves again?"
"Cough… stop bickering like a fool! Focus on the game!" Chris quickly changed the topic after realizing that he couldn\'t win against Cathy in this debate. After all, the reason she usually had to take leaves were either because Chris wanted to bring her along with his friends, or he had incomplete assignments.
"Heh." Cathy scoffed and focused back to the game.
The white car and red car were still sticking close to each other and thus, sniping the white car from this distance would be impossible.
"Chris, drive closer to them but at a slower speed and make it stable. I will try to take out the white." Cathy closed one of her eyes and leaned on the gun, aiming at the white target.
"Alright, don\'t miss." Chris nodded and began to drive.
Luckily, Alia\'s aim wasn\'t as good as Cathy\'s and thus, she still wasn\'t shooting and was simply waiting for distance to reduce.
Soon, the distance between the cars began to decrease, however the deadlock between the two was still on, both teams waiting for the right opportunity to attack.
"Cath, listen to this…" Chris realized a way to win and quickly whispered the idea to Cathy who was also impressed by the idea. If it works, the other team would surely get surprised and will thus provide the opening that Chris was looking for.
"Alia, shoot." Taylor, oblivious to Chris\'s new plan, suddenly ordered his girlfriend after seeing the distance between their cars.
"At this distance I might not hit the middle though." Alia reminded Taylor in her smooth voice and pressed the trigger after aiming.
*Phii*
With heavy pressure and high speed, the water shot towards Chris\'s target directly.
Every person who was watching the game knew that this was a clean hit, after all, dodging the stream at such a distance would be impossible for anyone.
And that was indeed true. Since water was moving at a high speed, turning the car away wouldn\'t work in time.
However, what no one knew that this was all according to the plan… after all, they couldn\'t move the car away, but that didn\'t mean dodging the attack was impossible…
Cathy quickly pulled her hands and pressed the trigger, causing a similarly high speed stream to speed towards the incoming attack by Alia.
And then it happened, the unexpected. Both streams collided in air, causing the stream to burst and speed to slow significantly so that only rain of water droplets fell down with little to no damage caused upon the target.
Alia who was completely confident about her aim was shocked by the sudden defense that her hands slightly trembled and water whizzed past the target.
\'Success!\' Chris grinned as he saw Alia had stopped shooting and was trying to re-stabilize her aim.
But of course, will Cathy let her do that? And the answer was hell nah. They had worked so hard to get this small opening, how could she let it go to waste?
She moved the water gun and aimed at the center of the target on white car, promptly shooting it down without a delay. After all, they had limited time till Alia regained her aim.
Psi and Soci were caught off guard by the sudden attack at their target that despite acting at their fastest speed and trying to move the car away, the water stream directly tore through the center of their target.
*BEEP!*
Another loud beeping sound along with some cheers renounced in the arena as the white car was finally also eliminated, leaving only Chris\'s black car and Taylor\'s red car.
"Hahaha, well played, well played." Taylor laughed loudly seeing only they two were left in the arena and the timer was showing approximately 7 minutes remaining.
\'Bastard doesn\'t even see us as a threat.\' Chris narrowed his eyes after realizing that Taylor didn\'t care about losing his teammate to Chris.
It was as if he already knew he would win, with teammates or without, it doesn\'t matter.
And well, his thought process was quite justified, after all, he was much more experienced in playing it than Chris and also, his target was much less damaged compared to Chris\'s.
"Chris, he is pissing me off." Cathy glared after realizing the same thing.
"You too? Me too. Let\'s crush him and make him pay for his arrogance, quite literally."
"How much did you even bet against him? All I heard from Max was that it is a big amount."
"Uhh… 100k worth of Aria Cosmetics if he wins, and 500k dollars to us if we win."
"One hundred thousand?! ARE YOU FUCKING MAD?!" Cathy shouted loudly at Chris, luckily the arena was quite noisy and the only one who received her exceptionally loud shout was Chris.
"Look at the bright side, Cath. We will get 500k if we win!"
"Oh my, I didn\'t even think about it!" Cathy hissed back in sarcasm, "HOW WILL WE FUCKING WIN?! He have much more experience than us in this game!"
"We have something that even he doesn\'t have, Cath." Chris offered a beautiful, bright smile that awakened some sense of hope in poor Cathy\'s mind as she asked hurriedly,
"What??? What do we have?" with new found sense of hope, Cathy looked at Chris and asked excitedly. Hoping he would pull out some cool new trick out of his brain, alas, his answer disappointed her to no end…
"We have something that they can never have, Cath. Our victory is ensured." Chris smirked and repeated his words, building some mystery.
"Just tell it already."
"We have…" Chris looked at her with a smile, "A siblings bond! The bond that we have deepened since birth!"
Hearing his flamboyant words, Cathy stared at him for good few seconds, wondering if she maybe heard it wrong. There was no way her brother would suddenly begin to spout such bullcrap… right?
"Brother… you… should just focus on driving…" Cathy faked a bright smile with her eyebrows twitching. She was really trying her hardest to control her anger…
"It is fine, Cath. I know we will win."
"Just shut up please…"
