Chapter 221
Luo Xiao had already sold many of the resources he had gotten before, but he still had numerous saved within his storage treasures, and he was more than willing to trade them with some families
“These families do not have enough members to participate in the actual robbing of treasures, so their harvest is usually very slim. At the same time, because of the lack of allies, they will often suffer more misfortune than benefits. If they can get enough resources through other methods, they will be more than willing to make the exchange.”
Patriarch Gu did not hold anything back as he began explaining the situation. He had witnessed numerous of these realm openings, and knew that while it was supposed to be equal chances for all, not many could rival the top families, and would often serve as either cannon fodder or simply end up being bullied.
If not for the fact that they had to constantly struggle for more resources, they would never be willing to send their talented youths to such a dangerous place.
“I see. I am very interested in purchasing a spot for this secret realm, but I do not know what would be considered a reasonable price. I am not willing to pay more than necessary, but I also refuse to cheat others.
“If you can work out a certain baseline of what you expect, then I can find some resources around that point of value and exchange for the spot.”
Luo Xiao knew that Gu Xingyu was more than willing to pay for the spot, but the Gu family was already somewhat unhappy with the extra benefits that he gained, so there was no need to make the situation for Patriarch Gu more difficult.
“I understand.” Gu Xingyu was also very intelligent. He did not mind if he had to pay for the position, and he knew that it would bring some troubles, but to him, this was not a big issue.
.....
Now that Luo Xiao was willing to pay on his own, this would save him some trouble, and he was naturally grateful.
Luo Xiao did not waste more time. He quickly saluted and retreated back to his own courtyard. He was not very interested in the rest of the Gu family, but he did appreciate Gu Xingyu and Gu Tianhu.
Upon returning to his courtyard, Luo Xiao explained the conversation he had with Gu Xingyu to Ye Chao and Ye Feng, as he knew that neither of them had been listening in before.
Both guards were extremely skilled and knew that they should never eavesdrop on Luo Xiao’s conversations without permission. They were able to completely filter out the sound of conversation, but still focus on the surroundings to keep him safe.
“I have never been in one of these Secret Realms before, where the younger generation is supposed to fight for resources, so I will need your help to prepare.” Luo Xiao looked at Ye Chao and Ye Feng with a solemn expression.
These secret realms were usually under certain laws making it so that only those who fulfilled certain criteria could enter. These criteria were usually centered around either age or strength.
No matter which, it was obvious that neither Ye Chao nor Ye Feng would be able to enter with him, so he needed to be fully prepared before trying it out.
“The Lord might not agree with your decision.” Ye Feng could not help but comment, somewhat depressed. He knew that Jiang Yao was, when it came to Luo Xiao, easily influenced by emotions, and he was worried that their lord might end up destroying the Secret Realm, and perhaps the entire continent, in case something should happen to Luo Xiao within.
“There is a certain risk involved in entering the Secret Realm, but we need to keep in mind that Young Master Gu is not willing to be ordinary. Since he wants to fight for his own future and to stand side by side with our master, then it is only natural that some parts will be fraught with danger.
“What we can do, as his subordinates, is to prepare well enough and ensure that he has anything that he might need before entering the secret realm. We should support his determination and even if our master is here, we cannot easily be swayed by his biased emotions.”
Ye Chao was still as stoic as before, but he was more talkative, and was able to reason and keep Ye Feng down to earth. To Ye Chao, the decision that Luo Xiao had made was the most correct one. If he wished to stand tall amongst the heroes of the world, then he had to face the dangers that lurked before him.
If he merely depended on being escorted by himself and Ye Feng, then Luo Xiao would never become truly strong, and by the time he would have to rely on his own strength, that would be when he would fall from the skies and crash deep to the ground.
However, he was also painfully aware that Jiang Yao might not be able to accept this decision. While he, logically speaking, would understand Luo Xiao’s decision; his heart was unable to accept that his lover could face danger, and he was more than eager to wrap him up in pillows and ensure that even the slightest fall would cause him no harm.
