Chapter 56 Crossfire
Diego\'s men grabbed the wooden crates from their cars and brought them in front of Senator Ramon\'s group. Everything they were doing was captured by the cameras installed all over the place.
When the boxes were opened, high-grade methamphetamine crystals could be seen inside. One of Senator Ramon\'s men grabbed a packet of the drugs and poked the plastic with a knife. He then brought the packet close to his nose and took a light sniff. "Boss, it is real." He shouted to Senator Ramon.
"Hahaha! Good! Grab the boxes and put them inside our vehicles." Senator Ramon commanded his men while laughing heartily.
While Senator Ramon\'s men were moving the boxes filled with drugs, a whistling sound silently echoed.
Swoosh!
One of Diego\'s lackeys was shot in the leg. "Ahhh! My leg! I\'m shot! They shot me!" He shouted with a grimacing look.
Everyone started to panic and they immediately grabbed their guns and pointed them towards the opposing group.
"What\'s going on Senator Ramon?!" Diego stared at the old senator with a furious expression on his face.
Senator Ramon furrowed his eyebrows as he stared back at Diego. \'What is happening? Is this one of Diego\'s ploys? Are they planning to discard me using this tactic?\' He thought to himself.
"Why are you silent, Senator?! Tell me! Are you planning to go against us now?!" Diego shouted in rage. Senator Ramon was one of the drug cartel\'s top clients so he felt betrayed by \'his actions\'.
"Diego, stop acting! I know that this is just one of your ploys! Does that bastard Leandro want to discard me after getting my money?! Dream on!" Senator Ramon shouted as he took cover behind a car. Four of his men surrounded him as they eyed Diego\'s group suspiciously.
Suddenly, another whistling sound silently echoed and this time, one of Senator Ramon\'s subordinates was shot in the head.
Thud!
The moment his corpse fell to the ground, both Diego\'s group and Senator Ramon\'s group took cover as they fired their guns.
"Damn you, Diego! You betrayed me! I won\'t forgive you! Motherf*ckr!" Senator Ramon\'s furious roar echoed in all directions.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
While they were firing blindly at each other, Arlan, Karl, and Khalon fired at them. There were silencers on their weapons so no one noticed them. Each of their shots took the life of one person. When they had killed more than eight people, Arlan touched his earpiece and muttered. "Hold your fire."
After hearing his command, Karl and Khalon immediately stopped firing.
Arlan stared at the chaotic scene before issuing another command. "Let\'s pull back and return to the vehicle. Our job is done here."
They could have killed both parties here, but that would be beyond stupid. He wanted Senator Ramon to rot in jail and the only way to do that was to gather evidence of this drug trade. He also wanted Diego to suffer a bit as revenge for sending men to capture him and Sophia\'s family.
They headed back to the Subaru Forester and quickly drove away. As they left the place, they could still hear gunshots from the distance. It looked like the battle between the two parties involved was far from over.
"Let me see the footage," Arlan said as he looked at Khalon.
Khalon quickly handed him the laptop. After Arlan got the laptop, he clicked on the footage of their spy cameras and saw that Diego\'s group and Senator Ramon\'s group were still fighting.
At this moment, only less than half of each group\'s members remained. The rest were either incapacitated or killed.
It was only after another fifteen minutes did Senator Ramon and his remaining subordinates drove away from the scene. The old senator himself was even shot in his right shoulder, but he was lucky enough that it wasn\'t a direct hit. If he was shot a few inches lower, he would have been dead by now.
As for Diego, he was seething with anger as he stared at Senator Ramon\'s escaping vehicle.
"Boss, should we follow them?"
"There\'s no need. Take the money and go back to the headquarters. We need to report this to Boss Leandro! That old bastard must pay for betraying us!" Diego\'s eyes flashed with killing intent as he uttered those words.

"Make a few copies of the footage and transfer them to the hard drive." Arlan said as he handed the laptop to Khalon.
\'Should I give the evidence to Fabian? Can I even trust that guy?\' Arlan pondered deeply as he grabbed his phone. He saw the notification from the mysterious app. He hasn\'t checked this yet since they were in a hurry earlier. He quickly claimed his daily reward.
[Congratulations! You claimed 50,000,000 pesos!]
Arlan was neither happy nor disappointed by the reward. He was no longer in need of money so he wasn\'t that excited anymore every time he got money as a reward.
After getting his reward, Arlan opened his contacts and searched for Police Captain Fabian\'s number. This person was the only high-ranking police officer he knew. After hesitating for a moment, he put down his phone and turned his head to Karl. "Karl, do you know someone in the police?"
Karl was driving so he kept his eyes on the road as he replied while nodding his head lightly. "I do know some people in the police. Three of them are low-ranking patrolmen and the other one is a Police Master Sergeant."
Arlan was disappointed when he heard this. Fabian had a higher rank than Karl\'s acquaintances. Fabian was a Police Executive Master Sergeant and his authority was only beneath that of the Taguig Police Department\'s Chief who was a Lieutenant.
\'It looks like I have no choice.\' He sighed in his heart. He couldn\'t rashly send the evidence they had to the police since he might send it to someone connected to either Leandro or Senator Ramon.
Arlan dialed Fabian\'s number and called him.
