Chapter 50 Academy
The next day I woke up but was feeling languished; yesterday was a hectic day with meeting after meeting to again convince everyone about my film career. The discussion was intense, but the climax was when Uncle Donald mentioned book art. It took all of my will to satisfy their worry; sometimes, I wonder if they worry too much or does it run in the family.
I am feeling tired because of it, but I have to visit the institute with Aunt Amelia. I have to learn so much in little time, but hopefully, I will have a cheat system to support me. I got up with Oscar standing outside the room as always. I feel that something was off about him yesterday, but I don\'t know how to approach the subject. It was always the other way around with me needing his help, but this time I had to help him or at least inquire about the situation.
"Oscar, Good morning. "I greeted him as always.
"Good morning, Young master. I have everything you need here. "He handed me the usual clean towel with a glass of water. I have often objected that I could do most of the things on my own, but he would always turn me down mercilessly. I just resorted to fate and accepted his demand.
"It is good day to go outside. Are you going to accompany me and Aunt today? "I asked.
"Ah, yes." He said, but a slight pause in response told me that his mind was not here and something was definitely worrying him.
"Is something wrong? You are not your usual self today. If it is not convenient, you can stay at home. You don\'t have to accompany me everywhere. "I said with worry.
"No, I am fine. I will go with you today. "He said with a severe tone. I brushed off the issue and decided not to press the issue. I nodded and went ahead to refresh myself.
I waited at the entrance with Oscar, waiting for Aunt Amelia, who was running late. Women indeed take a lot of time to get ready; I previously thought it was bogus, but experiencing it, I can surely attest to it.
A few minutes later, Aunt came out with Uncle George. Uncle also had some business, so he has been tagging along with us for some time. We greeted and entered the car to drive off toward the academy. Uncle and I wore simple attire, but Aunt\'s clothes were flamboyant. It is both elegant and formal.
"You don\'t have to wear that honey, Its a simple visit. "Uncle George said.
"What? It is Sami\'s first time there and we have to a good impression afterall we are asking for a huge favour. They are not known to give private lessons. "Aunt said.
"It doesn\'t matter. I have also informed them about it; also I must have forgot to tell you but the Queen is a parton of the academy and being a family related to the Queen gives us a lot of leverage. "Uncle dropped the bomb.
"Oh, Capatalism at it\'s finest. I always forget it. Sigh "Aunt said with a playful look.
"Really now, Did you already forget you are a part of it? "Uncle teased.
They bickered back and forth some more. I felt left out, so they changed the subject to focus on our destination. Uncle began to tell me about the academy.
"I think Samuel, you should know more about the academy. The place we are going is in the heart of london famous for it\'s long history. "He said and continued to explain further.
The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is a drama school in London, England that provides vocational conservatoire training for theatre, film, television, and radio. It is based in the Bloomsbury area of Central London, close to the Senate House complex of the University of London, and is a founding member of the Federation of Drama Schools. It is one of the oldest drama schools in the United Kingdom, founded in 1904 by Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree.
It moved to buildings on Gower Street in 1905. It was granted a Royal Charter in 1920, and a new theatre was built on Malet Street, behind the Gower Street buildings that Edward, Prince of Wales, opened in 1921. It received its first government subsidy in 1924. RADA currently has five theatres and a cinema.
RADA offers several foundations and undergraduate and postgraduate courses. King\'s College London (KCL) valid its higher education awards. The Royal Patron of the school is Queen Elizabeth II. The current Principal is Lady Edith Evans, who succeeded Ronald, Lord Ruthborough, following his death in 1993.
The school\'s Principal Industry Partner is Warne Bros. Entertainment which our family is a patron.
"With the reference of Queen and your father, we successfully convinced the Principal to give you an acting crash course for a few months. Many amazing faculty members who have worked in the industry will guide and teach you. You just have to do your best to absorb as much as possible." Uncle George finished his explanation with some encouraging words.
"Yes, I have done some research. RADA only accepts up to 28 new students each year into its three-year BA (Hons) in Acting course, with a 50–50 split of male and female students. Admission into the three-year BA (Hons) in Acting course is based on suitability and successful audition, via the four-stage audition process, spanning several months. Auditions are held in London as well as in New York, Los Angeles, Dublin, and across the UK. So, it is a rare opportunity. "Aunt Amelia dumped a lot of data which alleviated my worries.
"What are you saying, Amelia? Don\'t frighten the child; it\'s okay, Samuel. You focus on yourself and forget about meaningless things." Uncle George said, scolding Aunt.
"Is it really okay for me attend it without any qualifications? It feels like I am taking someone else\'s place. "I spoke what was on my mind.
"Nonsense, You are only a child now; it is only a favor that will not disrupt their daily activities. I am sure you can pass their assessment when you grow up and become eligible. I have already informed the Principal, so you will not suffer any hardships. "Uncle said, affirming my self-confidence.
"I am sorry Sami. I spoke without thinking; I am sure you will be fine because I believe in you completely. "Aunt also commented with some regret.
"Young master, I also believe in you. By the way, we are almost at our destination. "Oscar also chimed in.
We all left the car to walk toward the entrance. There are not many people present, but I can clearly see a middle age woman looking at us with a small smile. I can already guess the woman\'s identity by her demeanor and elegant clothes. We walked straight toward her with uncle leading the group.
